MATERIALS TESTING

support in developing test methods for new
Elastomer, Polymer & Fiber Composite materials
and components.
Elastomer & Polymer Testing
Test
method guidance can be provided on measuring
stress-strain constitutive properties. Individual tests
are typically conducted in several modes of deformation
such as tension, compression, lap shear or planar shear.
Specific sample dimensions and quantity of tests can be
adapted and optimized for the application
conditions depending on the material and fixtures
available. If desired, tests can also be
recommended for temperature variation, damping and
creep.
Material
tests can be conducted to measure lamina (ply) and
laminate properties. In addition, laminate properties must
typically be measured to
quantify or allow for repairable damage.
Therefore, testing representative laminates that are
used on an application is crucial for insuring
acceptable material performance.
